Former head of Royal Bank of Scotland Fred Goodwin to reduce pension

Former head of Royal Bank of Scotland Fred Goodwin to reduce pension
September 12th, 2020 | Uncategorized |

Thursday, June 18, 2009

Sir Fred Goodwin, the former head of Royal Bank of Scotland has said he will reduce his pension by up to £200,000 a year, leaving him with approximately £350,000 a year.

He has been heavily criticised for receiving a large pension, while being blamed for contributing to RBS’ recent issues, which is now owned mainly by the UK government, after a £20 billion bailout last autumn. RBS has previously threatened legal action to recoup some of the money.

In October 2008, Goodwin agreed to a deal with the bank that allowed him to take his whole pension of £703,000 a year. There was no penalty for claiming it early, at the age of 50. Both the board of RBS and the UK government were criticised for failing to do more to prevent Goodwin gaining such a large pension.

A Healthy Penis The Secret To Pleasing A Sexual Partner

September 12th, 2020 | It Services |

Submitted by: J Dugan

Pleasing a woman is often remarkably easy. For example, a man who remembers to pick up his socks from the floor and put them in the laundry hamper might be rewarded with a shower of kisses. Men who want more than kisses, however, might consider the advantages of a healthy penis, both in terms of his own enjoyment and in pleasing his partner. The intense benefits of smoother, more supple penile skin could allow a man to please his partner in ways she just didn’t expect, taking their encounters to a new level of enjoyment.

Here are just some of the ways that a responsive, healthy penis can benefit both the owner of the tool and his intimate partner:

Enhanced Sensitivity: Pleasing a sexual partner is one of the most rewarding parts of an intimate encounter. Men who are used to treating the penis a bit roughly during their solo sessions can end up with thicker, desensitized, and more work may be required from both parties in order to bring him to climax due to the toughened, less-responsive dermal tissue. It can be frustrating to work with a body that just doesn’t respond, and some partners become resistant to the mere suggestion of intimate play, as they know these sessions won’t be easy or pleasant for them.

A penis health creme contains ingredients that can soften hardened skin, allowing dead cells to slough off so newer, more responsive tissue can take its place. Touch receptors are more accessible, and they can respond quickly to communicate directly with the brain’s pleasure center. After a few applications of a quality creme, a man might be able to feel more than he ever has before, and his partner might not need to do much work at all in order to get him going.

Softened, Smooth Skin: Sexual partners are expected to interact with all sorts of roughened, unappetizing skin. It’s part of the experience, and often, it’s part of the fun. But skin that’s been lovingly cared for is also just more pleasant to interact with. There aren’t any rough patches to snag clothing or nasty smells to ignore. Skin like this is soft, touchable and even kissable. A penis health creme could bring this tissue to life. Penis-specific vitamins are intended to nourish the skin cells so they can heal quickly and stay soft, and ingredients such as natural antibacterials (for example, vitamin A) can keep bacterial colonies in check, so no unpleasant scents take over. There s no denying that a less-smelly penis is more pleasant for everyone involved!

Resistance to infection and injury. When one partner is feeling under the weather, the fun stops for both parties. Penis skin that is soft, clean and healthy is less likely to fall prey to environmental invaders that can cause unpleasant infections, and it is less likely to develop tiny tears that can cause a dry, rough appearance and a significant amount of discomfort. Nourishing the penile tissues and keeping them pliant and healthy could mean that men spend less time healing on the sidelines and more time pleasing their partners. That could be a benefit both parties come to enjoy.

Getting Started

There’s no prescription needed for a penis health creme, and quality products (health experts recommend Man1 Man Oil) are available online. To use the product, men can simply:

Wash with warm water

Pat dry with a towel

Apply the creme directly to penile skin

Rub in until absorbed

Most men apply the product daily, and some even ask their partners to get in on the act. While the product shouldn’t be used as a personal lubricant, asking a partner to participate in applying a soft, slick product to intimate skin might lead to all sorts of interesting encounters and enhanced enjoyment for both parties.

Gay Talese on the state of journalism, Iraq and his life

">
Gay Talese on the state of journalism, Iraq and his life
September 10th, 2020 | Uncategorized |

Saturday, October 27, 2007

Gay Talese wants to go to Iraq. “It so happens there is someone that’s working on such a thing right now for me,” the 75-year-old legendary journalist and author told David Shankbone. “Even if I was on Al-Jazeera with a gun to my head, I wouldn’t be pleading with those bastards! I’d say, ‘Go ahead. Make my day.'”

Few reporters will ever reach the stature of Talese. His 1966 profile of Frank Sinatra, Frank Sinatra Has a Cold, was not only cited by The Economist as the greatest profile of Sinatra ever written, but is considered the greatest of any celebrity profile ever written. In the 70th anniversary issue of Esquire in October 2003, the editors declared the piece the “Best Story Esquire Ever Published.”

Talese helped create and define a new style of literary reporting called New Journalism. Talese himself told National Public Radio he rejects this label (“The term new journalism became very fashionable on college campuses in the 1970s and some of its practitioners tended to be a little loose with the facts. And that’s where I wanted to part company.”)

He is not bothered by the Bancrofts selling The Wall Street Journal—”It’s not like we should lament the passing of some noble dynasty!”—to Rupert Murdoch, but he is bothered by how the press supported and sold the Iraq War to the American people. “The press in Washington got us into this war as much as the people that are controlling it,” said Talese. “They took information that was second-hand information, and they went along with it.” He wants to see the Washington press corp disbanded and sent around the country to get back in touch with the people it covers; that the press should not be so focused on–and in bed with–the federal government.

Augusten Burroughs once said that writers are experience junkies, and Talese fits the bill. Talese–who has been married to Nan Talese (she edited James Frey‘s Million Little Piece) for fifty years–can be found at baseball games in Cuba or the gay bars of Beijing, wanting to see humanity in all its experience.

Below is Wikinews reporter David Shankbone’s interview with Gay Talese.

Mumbai Police investigations indicate Pakistani role in 11/7 serial blasts">
Mumbai Police investigations indicate Pakistani role in 11/7 serial blasts

September 8th, 2020 | Uncategorized |

Sunday, October 1, 2006

Mumbai Police Commissioner A N Roy confirmed today that investigations had revealed the involvement of the militant group Lashkar-e-Toiba and the (banned) Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) in the 11 July 2006 bombing of the city’s commuter rail network. He also stated that the attacks had been masterminded by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and carried out by Pakistani and Indian nationals.

Fifteen people, twelve of whom were directly involved in the execution of the bombings are in custody, eleven of them are Pakistani citizens.

The conspiracy to carry out the attacks, which killed 190 people, was hatched in the vicinity of Mumbai, by militants who were trained in Bahwalpur, Pakistan. The Pakistani bombers entered India in batches, some through the porous Indo-Nepal border, others via Bangladesh and some through Gujarat. They then reached Mumbai around May 25, and were sheltered in Malad and Bandra by Faizal Sheikh. Kamaluddin Ansari and Ehtasham Siddiqui, (General Secretary of SIMI, Maharashtra) were also involved in the conspiracy.

The RDX explosive used in the blasts was brought from Pakistan by a man called Ehsanullah, while the ammonium nitrate was procured locally. The explosives were assembled in Chembur by Mumbai resident Mohammad Ali, between 8 and 10 July. On the day of the attacks, the bombs (each containing 2 – 2.5 kg of RDX and 3.5 – 4 kg of ammonium nitrate) were concealed in eight pressure cookers and transported to the railway stations in taxis.

From there two member teams of bombers placed the explosives on the trains and detonated them using quartz timers. One of the militants, Saleem, a native of Lahore, could not (as was the plan) get off the train before the explosives went off, as a result of which he perished in the blast between Khar and Bandra. Of the seven Indian suspects, four (Faizal Sheikh, Kamaluddin Ansari, Ehtashan Siddiqui and Naved) have been apprehended, while a search is on for the other three.

Mr. Roy described the bombings as a “professional, precise and well-planned”. The first clue his department got was a phone call made from Navi Mumbai to a place on the Indo-Nepal border. Based on this information Kamaluddin Ansari was arrested in from Madhubani, Bihar. Narco-analysis of the other suspects revealed that they were trained in Pakistan and also helped tie up other loose ends in the case. Faizal Sheikh also revealed that he had received Rs. 60,00,000 from Pakistan in the last few years. Police also recovered 26,000 Riyals, given to him by Rizwan Devra, an ISI operative living in Dubai, from Faizal’s house.

Pakistan’s Minister of State for Information, Tariq Azim, denied the role of the ISI in the bombings, saying that his country “rejected” the accusation, and that India should provide Pakistan with “any information if they have it”. “Such allegations only give benefit to the real culprits, who escape arrest,” he said.

London, UK, August 19, 2017 – Armour Communications, a leading provider of specialist, secure communications solutions for Windows 10 Desktop, iOS and Android smartphones/tablets will be showing its flagship solution Armour Mobile, which provides all the functionality seen in consumer-grade (free) apps but with the benefit of significantly enhanced security. New for DSEI is Armour Black, a range of higher assurance solutions for Government, Defence, covert communities and the security-conscious Enterprise.

Offering the most comprehensive and flexible solutions currently available, Armour Mobile provides secure voice calls, video calls, one-to-one and group messaging, voice and video conference calls, file attachments and sent/received/read message status. Armour Mobile protects mobile communications from devices such as IMSI catchers, or hacks using the SS7 protocol and others. It enables secure collaboration between trusted colleagues when discussing sensitive and/or classified information.

Armour Black provides the same great user experience as Armour Mobile, but is hardened with a range of third party products, to protect data classified up to SECRET. Armour Blue, another sector specific variant of Armour Mobile, incorporates Push To Talk functionality which provides those features for emergency services and others that need to maintain usability and compatibility with 3GPP MCPTT standards.

David Holman, a director at Armour Communications commented; “We have gradually been expanding our range of specialist solutions based around Armour Mobile to cover a wide range of use cases for Government, Defence, Military, Covert and Emergency/Blue light services.

“Whether staff are using company issued devices or their own (BYOD), Armour Mobile is easily deployed and centrally managed, available either on the Armour secure cloud, or as a full on-premises solution where every element of communications is completely locked down and controlled. Armour Mobile is a software technology and protects sensitive and secret communications from eavesdroppers without the requirement or costs of a special phone or hardware.”

With its focus on interoperability Armour Mobile is the first secure communications app to connect to Skype for Business (previously called Lync) using standard Cisco SIP-based technology. This enables Armour users in the field or overseas to communicate securely using voice and video with corporate Skype for Business installations.

Also on show at DSEI will be the recently launched Armour Desktop which extends the secure mobile communications functionality of Armour Mobile and delivers it to organisations via a Windows 10 softphone. Together Armour Mobile, Skype for Business and Armour Desktop enable users inside and external to the organisation to communicate transparently within a secure and private environment, while taking advantage of the reduce costs and increased flexibility provided by Voice over IP corporate communications.

Armour Mobile is available for download from the iOS and Android apps stores, and is also available for Armour Samsung Mobile, which provides an extra layer of hardware security by utilising the TEE (Trusted Execution Environment) for key storage and decryption.

Internet hackers attack Al-Jazeera website, condemn news service’s Syrian civil war coverage

September 5th, 2020 | Uncategorized |

Wednesday, September 5, 2012

The website of international news service Al Jazeera was hacked Tuesday by a group idenitified only as Al-Rashedon. The type of group and its exact purposes are unclear at this stage, although it appears to be supportive of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

We have hacked you because your lack of support of Syrian government and militant groups backed by that government. Al Jazeera has been spreading lies.

A screenshot of the hacked page contains the current Syrian flag displayed on the top left and a screenshot of a regular Al Jazeera homepage, overlaid by a graphic resembling a rubber stamp with the word “HACK” written on it and a silhouette of two men sitting at a desk.

As well as identifying the group which hacked the website in English and Arabic, the bottom left of the image also contains an Arabic language statement from the group criticising Al Jazeera for its coverage of the Syrian civil war. When roughly translated, the message means: “We have hacked you because your lack of support of Syrian government and militant groups backed by that government. Al Jazeera has been spreading lies. We’re compelled to do so on behalf of the Syrian people.”

According to technological weblog Gizmodo, reports have emerged of the .net and not the .com version of the website being hacked. The site reports that some users have not been able to access the website.

Wikinews contacted Al Jazeera English about the incident and as of 8:31pm UTC, had received no response.

Protestors want ‘carnival not confrontation’ at Forbes conference">
Protestors want ‘carnival not confrontation’ at Forbes conference

September 4th, 2020 | Uncategorized |

Thursday, August 25, 2005

The 30A network has said that it wants to create a carnival atmosphere while protesting at the Forbes Global CEO conference. The protest, which starts on August 30, is expected to attract up to 2,000 protesters. Similar events in the past often had instances of violent confrontations between police and some of the activists. The 30A network is a loose affiliation of groups and individuals co-ordinating the protest.

30A spokesman Bruce Knobloch, of the International Socialist Organisation, made the call for a peaceful protest in a press release last week.

“We want a safe community action showing that people in Sydney oppose Howard¹s plan for a US-style wages system, the war in Iraq and his kow-towing to global corporate chiefs. We pose no threat to the Opera House or the millionaire delegates, or to other users of east Circular Quay,” Mr Knobloch said.

The conference will be held at the Sydney Opera House. The Forbes website says that at the event “senior figures from the world’s leading companies and institutions will discuss the best ways to nurture and capitalize on innovation and reveal the latest global trends.” It was recently announced that George Bush Sr will be attending the conference, along with former New York mayor Rudolph Giuliani, Prime Minister John Howard, and former NSW Premier Bob Carr.

Mr Knobloch described the attendees as “a few hundred neo-conservative corporate chiefs”.

The protesters have been denied access to the Opera House forecourt for the duration of the conference. Mr Knobloch believes that this decision is unjustified. He also accused the police of deliberately creating the conditions for confrontation.

“The police seem intent on creating chaos and confrontation, which is the last thing we need. We’ve urged police to build a barrier in front of the Opera House proper and to allow us to use the public space in the forecourt. By pushing us out into the CBD the police are going to create problems for commuters and business owners,” he said.

30A protestors this week organised a media conference outside Surry Hills Police Station, requesting a meeting to negotiate an agreement. According to an article on Sydney Indymedia, police at the station were unable to discuss the issue, but told 30a representatives that they would be contacted to organise a meeting.

“Minimising the protesters right to peacefully rally dramatically increases police powers and strikes at the heart of protesters’ democratic right to peaceful assembly,” the article said.

ASIO has assessed the conference to be “medium risk”, and this has been used by the police and government to justify the increased security.
